Our Elf on the Shelf has Arrived!

We wrote our letters to Santa letting him know that we thought our classroom needed an elf.  We each gave him at least 3 reasons why we thought an elf would be great for our classroom room.

Today, Thursday, our wish came true!  Santa sent us a special delivery! 

It was delivered by Mrs. Muelbauer after lunch this afternoon!

Loukas was the Leader today so he helped Mrs. VonOehsen open our special package.  Inside we found our box had this note inside:

We found him hiding in by one of our white boards inside the flash card bin!

Sneaky guy!  

We voted and his name is.....

Ginger!  

We can't WAIT to see what Ginger will be up to the next couple of weeks!

Polygons!!!

We are finishing up the year in math by studying Geometry.  We have been learning about different shapes and their attributes.  We have also been learning about why some shapes are called "Polygons" and some are not.

Today at school we learned a little more about polygons with these two videos.

We then constructed our own polygons with straws and twist ties.

Today we discussed what a poem is....

How do poems and poetry make us feel?

We discussed that poetry is more than just a short story that rhymes!

We wrote our own poems about the colors of the rainbow to tell what the colors make us think of and how they make us feel.
